Job Summary:

Oversee the accounting and analysis function for activities related to capitated systems (medical and administrative expenses).

Ensure monthly closes for EmblemHealth are performed timely, accurately and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Review and prepare journal entries, account reconciliations and other analyses.

Participate in the development and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting and process improvements to streamline the monthly close process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations related to capitalized contracts for the enterprise.

Ensure that journal entries, account reconciliations and other analyzes are complete, accurate and timely prepared and financial information is recorded in accordance with GAAP.

Identify and implement process improvements to ensure 10-business day completion and compliance with corporate policies and MAR regulations.

Streamline the closing process through automation to eliminate manual processes and improve efficiency.

Collaborate with other corporate groups to identify and implement "best practices" in accounting, reporting and financial controls.

Continue to realign responsibilities and cross-train to address near-critical obstacles.

Assist in implementing programs to enhance staff skills and further their professional development

Develop and develop new trend analysis for both P&L and Balance Sheet.

Check all aspects of chart field coding to ensure accuracy and work with FP&A as needed

Collaborate with various departments to ensure adequate and accurate documentation for capitated arrangements.

Attend meetings and ensure deliverables that are due from accounting are met.

Provide financial analysis and other documentation supporting internal business partners and prepare documentation in support of financial statements for internal and external auditors as well as CMS, DOH and DFS audits.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting required; MBA/MSA preferred.

CPA preferred.

Eligibility:

5 - 8+ years of experience in a finance and accounting environment required

2+ years of experience in public accounting preferred

Health insurance industry experience preferred

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) required

Experience with Oracle Cloud or similar financial software is required

Strong understanding of GAAP is required

Strong communication skills (oral, written, presentation, interpersonal) with all types/levels of audiences.
